The organisers of the Melbourne Moomba Festival came to Haycom with a dilemma - how to project video images onto two
water-screens placed in the middle of the Yarra. Video projectors had never before been successfully used on
water-screens in Australia to this scale.
Haycom designed and tested the set-up, involving rear screen projection from the banks of the river. The resulting
video images were spectacular at an enormous 25m wide. The images were clearly visible to the estimated crowd
of 100,000 people at the Festival's opening. This night time spectacular gathered enormous critical and popular
acclaim throughout the festival.
